Our nonprofit, TCC Gives, consists of two main components: Community Grants and More Than a Phone. 2019 was a busy, busy year. Our employees continued to make connections and submit grants on behalf of local nonprofits they care about and we rolled out big changes to More Than a Phone.
Community Grants
Community Grants are submitted by TCC employees. They have the choice to get involved with a local nonprofit and submit applications for grants up to $10,000. We gave $614,598 and 182 grants in 2019! The most popular cause this year was youth. These are all of the causes our passionate employees sponsored this year:
More Than A Phone
This TCC Gives program donates smartphones and data service to survivors of domestic and intimate partner violence. MTaP started in 2017 and has been growing ever since. Last year, programs were launched in 10 new cities thanks to help from our employees and a nonprofit partner in the area! In total, 660 smartphones were donated to survivors. This year, we also saw major changes to the program, making it as simple and safe as possible for the nonprofits and the survivors.
Got any old smartphones laying around the house you don’t use anymore? Donate them to a great cause! All TCC Verizon locations accept used smartphone donations to benefit More Than a Phone.
More Than a Tailgate
Our second annual tailgate to benefit More Than a Phone was held at Crane Bay Event Center in downtown Indianapolis this year. The new location was right across the street from where the Colts play, Lucas Oil Stadium. With food, some cornhole, and music by the DJ Gabby Love, it was a tailgate done right and $58,000 was raised for a great cause!
Thank you to everyone who helped make 2019 such a successful year for TCC Gives! We can’t wait to see what goals we accomplish together in 2020. Connect with TCC Gives on Facebook here.
