At TCC, we know businesses have the power to make an amazing impact on their local communities. That’s why we give our awesome employees the opportunity to give back year-round through group and individual volunteer events, company-wide givebacks, and community grants. Here’s what we’ve been up to in July, August, and September:
September 2024
MORR Pride Fest
Marshall, MO, had their first ever Pride event: MORR Pride Fest. With help from SAGE and HR, Tara C. and Sydney H. were able to show their support with a TCC/Round Room booth. This was the first booth at a Pride event that was organized by field employees!
Soap Box Derby Event
Zach B. and Tyler C. were invited to volunteer at the Indianapolis Soap Box Derby with Sherry Harris from Big Afro Productions. Sherry is creating a documentary on young African Americans in Indianapolis showcasing their personal excellence in hopes it inspires others to follow. She was spotlighting young Shelton Taylor on his recent win as the 2024 Super Stock Challenge champion. He is now one of three African American soap box derby champions from Indianapolis!
Orlando Summit Event
At our regional sales summit in Orlando, FL, we volunteered with Harbor House of Central Florida, an organization that provides life-saving services to survivors of domestic abuse. Our team assembled shelves, created holiday wish lists, and wrote notes.
Harbor House has worked with one of our local TCC stores through the More Than a Phone program, providing free smartphones to domestic violence survivors.
REACH Volunteer Event and Support
The Scottsburg, IN, store held a food drive for their local food pantry, REACH. They collected 450 donations and raised $250 – this was a great day for both TCC and REACH! Brittany R. and Tasha M. also helped REACH receive a $5,000 community grant.
August 2024
The Goodest of All Time
TCC received the Culture of Good Community Impact GOAT (Goodest of All Time) award, recognized for our remarkable contributions to local communities. The GOAT award is given to the company who is doing the absolute most for their community this year.
Denver Sales Summit Event
In Denver, we were lucky enough to have a give back event brought to us by Project Helping. Project Helping organizes volunteer events specifically designed to make an impact – both on the volunteer and the community. Each region chose a cause to support – MN/NE/IA and OR chose domestic violence, AZ/NM chose pet rescue and WA/ID chose foster youth.
They each had a kit to create based on the cause they chose. All the instructions and items were right at their fingertips and the creativity was at an all-time high! Each person assembled the kit and added personal touches knowing the people that would be impacted by their time and talent.
The domestic violence kits were sent to two of our More Than a Phone partners in the corresponding region: Women’s Advocates in St. Paul, MN, and Women’s Crisis Support Teams in Grants Pass, OR. The pet rescue and foster youth kits were donated locally in Denver in TCC’s name.
Plainville, CT, Pet Adoption Event
The Plainville, CT, store held a pet adoption event with Army’s Legacy Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, organized by Tyasha A. and Stephen C. There were four dogs at the event, and one got adopted!
Greensburg Bread of Life Volunteer Event
Members of East IN sales region volunteered at the Greensburg Bread of Life, an organization they have supported for years. The team prepped various food items for upcoming meals with other Bread of Life volunteers.
SAGE Muncie Pride
The SAGE (Sexuality and Gender Equality) employee resource group proudly hosted a booth at this year’s Muncie Indiana Pride, where Round Room served as the Title Sponsor for the entire event! At their booth, they highlighted the More Than a Phone initiative and its More Than a Statistic series, which focuses on the LGBTQIA+ community.
This extraordinary event put on by Muncie OUTReach was made possible by our company’s support, bringing together over 140 diverse vendors and more than 1,000 residents to celebrate pride in an unforgettable way!
July 2024
2024 School Rocks Backpack Giveaway
Our 12th annual School Rocks Backpack Giveaway was a success! We gave away over 100,000 backpacks to local students to prepare them for the upcoming school year. A handful of stores were also given a golden ruler keychain to surprise a randomly selected student! These students received $100 for themselves and a $1,000 Amazon wish list buyout for their school.
AOA Fundraiser
The Arts and Outdoor Activities (AOA) employee resource group hosted a paint and sip event where they raised $1,000 for Theatre Horizon in Norristown, PA. This theatre has an Autism Drama Program, inspiring the imagination and social development in individuals on the autism spectrum and with other sensitivities.
Nashville Nights Sponsorship
TCC sponsored A Kid Again’s Nashville Nights event to raise money for kids with life-threatening conditions to go on stress-free adventures and activities with their families. A record-breaking $218,000 was raised!
Cats Haven Volunteer Event
Dawn H. at our Store Support has coordinated support for Cats Haven in Indianapolis for YEARS now, and she organized another landscaping project. It was so hot and it was hard work, but they made BIG strides with their yard and gardens!
