Our company provides so much more than just your average job. We want our team to feel fulfilled, so we give our employees the resources to give back and support causes they’re personally passionate about at work. On top of paid volunteer hours and quarterly Community Events, they can also partner with a local nonprofit and submit a Community Grant, worth up to $10,000, every single quarter. Throughout July, August, and September, our employees at TCC and Wireless Zone® have been getting out into their local communities.
September 2023
Cats Haven Volunteer Event
Volunteers went to Cats Haven to help them get the house and yard ready for their upcoming open house event. Cats Haven is the oldest no-kill cat sanctuary in Central Indiana and lets the cats live in an open atmosphere environment. We have an ongoing partnership with this rescue and have supported them over the past few years.
High Hopes Therapeutic Riding Partnership
Our team was thrilled to present High Hopes Therapeutic Riding Inc with a WZ Gives Grant to help them continue the amazing work they do in the community. High Hopes Executive Director Kitty Stalsburg as well as some additional staff, both human and equine, were on hand (and hoof) to accept.
Q3 Grants
Thank you to our passionate employees who submitted a Community Grant for Q3. This past quarter, TCC donated $196,500 in grants and Wireless Zone® donated $150,525. In total, $347,025 was donated to local nonprofits that have partnered with our employees.
Living Out Our 5 Promises
Each quarter, we recognize employees who live out our 5 Promises in their everyday life. These awesome employees care, connect, inspire, are authentic, and drive the business.
August 2023
Boys and Girls Club Volunteering
The Florida sales region came together to do good in Dunnellon! The team spent the day working with the Boys and Girls Club of Marion County. This organization serves kids from ages 6 through 18 and provides them with caring mentors and resources so they can thrive in the future.
Letters Against Isolation Event
The learning & development team had a volunteer event that helped Letters Against Isolation, a nonprofit that connects volunteers with isolated seniors. They wrote letters filled with jokes, stories, and bracelets to help brighten some seniors’ days.
A Kid Again Fundraiser
Round Room Gives, our exec team, and some Store Support employees attended the “A Kid Again – Nashville Comes to Noblesville” fundraiser. This event raised $180,000 to help foster hope, happiness, and healing for children with life-threatening conditions and their families.
MEGA Grant
We are still overflowing with joy and gratitude from the MEGA Grant reveal. Our employee resource groups worked to nominate seven amazing Indianapolis nonprofits to be in the running for a $100,000 MEGA Grant. After hearing their stories and their missions, we knew we couldn’t pick just one winner.
We gifted all seven nonprofits with a $100,000 grant, plus a $60,000 vehicle package to help with each organization’s unique transportation needs. We also granted an additional $580,000 to DREAM Alive to help fund their mentorship programs in Indianapolis Public School (IPS) facilities. In total, we gave away $1.7 million in a single afternoon!
Congratulations to our winners:
We are so proud to support the amazing work these nonprofits are doing in our community!
Make-A-Wish Michigan Baseball Fundraiser
Wireless Zone® Regional Franchise Director Jonathan Breier continued his partnership with Make-A-Wish Michigan. Jonathan helped organize their 4th annual Lansing Lugnuts baseball event. The sold-out event was a huge success and Wish Kid Thomas K. threw the first pitch. This year, they raised $111,514 to grant life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses.
Pay It Forward
Attendees at our 2023 employee sales rally were each given $20 to pay it forward and give to someone else, like a worker at the hotel, a barista, bartender, etc.
Backpack Giveaway Story
The Ephrata, PA, store had a family of five stop by during our Backpack Giveaway that had just come to the U.S. after fleeing Ukraine. They had only been in the country for a week, so these backpacks played a huge role in getting things moving in the right direction. They called some other family members who had also recently arrived in the U.S. to tell them about this giveaway. The Ephrata store was able to bless about 50 Ukrainian kids with backpacks so they could have a fresh start in their new country and show up prepared for their first day of school!
July 2023
Hamilton County Humane Society Volunteer Event
Our Store Support office volunteered with the Hamilton County Humane Society and helped with maintenance around their facility. The Humane Society depends on volunteers to keep their facility running and clean. Store Support was able to take several tasks off their plate so staff could use their time and resources finding homes for the animals.
Madison Juneteenth Event
Sara Williams, Michelle James, and Danielle Easton of the East IN sales region volunteered at the first ever Juneteenth Education and Celebration Event in Madison, IN. They had a great time learning and celebrating!
Gleaners Volunteer Event
The Southwest Indiana/Kentucky (SWINKY) sales region leadership team and Store Support volunteered at Gleaners Food Bank in Indianapolis. They packed hundreds of meals for families in need, and the field leaders were able to build connections with Store Support employees. This is the beginning of a long-term partnership between SWINKY and Gleaners!
91 Place Volunteer Event
Store Support employees volunteered at 91 Place, building furniture to help prepare for the opening of their third transitional house. 91 Place is a home for homeless young adults, ages 16-24, and exists to be a safe place for them to be, grow, and transform. This organization was also a recipient of a Round Room $100,000 MEGA Grant.
School Rocks Backpack Giveaway
The School Rocks Backpack Giveaway is always one of our favorite days, and this year was no exception. To date, we’ve donated over 1.2 million backpacks to students in our communities. Some of our stores went about and beyond doing double the good by donating any backpacks that were left over from the event to local organizations.
