Each January, the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas kicks off the year and showcases the new trends we can expect to see in tech. Here are a few of the highlights from this year’s show.
Even Smarter Smart Watches
Withings’s ScanWatch is clinically tested and won an Innovation Award at CES this year. It’s the first watch ever with ECG and sleep apnea detection. This super smart gadget checks your heart rate, notifies when it detects anything atypical or irregular, and detects atrial fibrillation with a medical-grade electrocardiogram. On top of cardiologist-approved heart features, it monitors your oxygen saturation all night long and checks if any apneic episodes occurred while you were asleep. Of course it also has dedicated workout metrics to track your fitness levels and crush goal after goal.

5G
5G was a hot topic at CES, with sessions focusing on how 5G will change the way we live and preparing for a more secure future. Carriers and mobile operators demonstrated how this new network with increased speed, reliability, and efficiency will influence innovation. The improvements 5G will bring to big industries like entertainment, digital health, and smart cities were also discussed.

New Samsung Smartphones
Samsung’s two new smartphones made quite the splash this year – the Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note10 Lite. Although it’s a lite version of their flagship smartphones, they don’t skimp on the features. Both of these phones aren’t available for pre-order yet, but they have said it will be priced at an accessible level. Check out the original versions, the Galaxy S10 and Note10 here.
